Privacy Policy
What we collect, and what we don't.
This policy describes how overfeed.news works today. If what we collect, or who receives it, changes, this page changes in the same release.
Data we collect
When you create an account, we store your email address and a password hash — passwords are hashed with argon2 and never stored or logged in plain text. Signing in sets an httpOnly session cookie that expires after 30 days; it can't be read by scripts running on the page.
That's the complete list: email, password hash, and session cookies. We don't ask for a name, payment details, or any profile information beyond what's needed to sign you in.
Advertising and measurement
overfeed.news is free to read and paid for by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense, and traffic is measured with Google Analytics. Both are Google products, and both can set cookies in your browser and receive your IP address along with the pages you open here.
Neither one runs before you allow it. Both start with storage denied through Google Consent Mode, so nothing is written to your browser and no identifier is shared until you choose. Readers on the Pro plan see no ads at all — for them the AdSense script is never loaded.
What we don't do
We don't sell, rent, or share your account data with anyone, and your email and password hash never leave our servers. We don't build advertising profiles ourselves, and what you save or follow is never used to target ads.
Cookies and retention
The only cookie we set ourselves is the session cookie described above. Once you consent, Google may set its own cookies for advertising and measurement; you can withdraw that consent at any time. Account data is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you close it.
