Learn how to connect on-premises data sources to Amazon Quick privately with AWS PrivateLink, keeping analytics traffic off the public internet. This walkthrough covers VPC endpoints for user and API access, VPC connections for data sources, DNS and endpoint policies, identity federation, and enforcing VPC-endpoint-only access for compliance.
Claude Desktop on Amazon Bedrock is limited to the model's knowledge cutoff without web search. In this post, we walk through connecting Claude Desktop to Web Search using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway, with JWT-based inbound authentication through AWS IAM Identity Center and Amazon Cognito.

Amazon Quick custom permissions let you enforce least-privilege access by toggling features per user. This post walks through four patterns to automate custom permissions across the user lifecycle: a RegisterUser API parameter, account and role defaults, event-driven Amazon EventBridge and AWS Lambda automation, and a retroactive batch update script.

Panasonic Avionics worked with AWS and the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center to build an agentic AI system on Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, and AWS Glue that diagnoses in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) issues across a global fleet, reducing diagnosis time from hours to minutes while maintaining accuracy.
Indonesia is taking charge of its AI future. This week, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH), NVIDIA and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) launched the UGM Indosat NVIDIA AI Technology Center (NVAITC) in Yogyakarta — the country’s first university-based AI technology center. Established under Indonesia’s AI Center of […]
Property Finder found that 96.8% of their vision-AI evaluation labels were inherited from the incumbent model, hiding its true accuracy. See how they built unbiased ground truth, applied evolutionary prompt optimization, and selected a more accurate, cost-effective model on Amazon Bedrock, cutting cost by 86% across 11 image-quality attributes.
The third post in our semantic-layer series builds a governed customer 360 model on Amazon Redshift with AtScale, then exposes it to a Strands agent on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore through the AtScale MCP server. Identity propagation, RBAC, row security, and full query audit are enforced at the semantic layer, not the prompt.

Amazon Quick is a HIPAA-eligible service, but eligibility is not the same as compliance. This post explains who HIPAA applies to, how PHI flows through Amazon Quick, what the platform provides for regulated environments, and a step-by-step guide to deploying compliant AI agents in a healthcare environment.
The third post in our semantic-layer series builds a customer 360 across Amazon Redshift and Amazon Aurora with Strategy Mosaic, exposes it to a Strands agent on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore through the Mosaic MCP server, and enforces per-user row and column security end-to-end.
Reinforcement learning has become a widely used approach to post-training large language models. In a typical implementation, learning is off-policy: The policy generating the responses differs from the policy being trained because of training-inference mismatch or policy staleness in asynchronous training. This discrepancy is commonly addressed by importance sampling, whose ratio is usually regularized in practice through truncation, masking, or clipping. Under regularized importance sampling, the importance-weighted policy gradient is no longer invariant to constant shifts in the reward. This invariance is recovered by using the covariance between the reward and the importance-weighted score as the estimand, which coincides with the policy gradient when the ratio is not regularized. This note develops this covariance perspective for both sequence-level and token-level importance sampling. The covariance perspective reveals the roles of the group-mean baseline and score centering in policy gradient estimation. Both perform centering in covariance estimation, but they differ in the mean being subtracted: The group-mean baseline uses a sample mean, whereas score centering uses a population mean. The two lead to distinct unbiased covariance estimators with different variances. Whether both forms of centering should be used simultaneously depends on whether importance sampling is applied at the sequence level or at the token level. With sequence-level importance sampling, score centering adds no benefit once the group-mean baseline is used; with token-level importance sampling, using the group-mean baseline without score centering generally introduces bias when the importance ratio is regularized.
